Ty's birthday was pretty low key. We had planned on having a friend come visit, but their family got sick. Ty was happy to spend the day playing his new video games. His cake request this year was a Dragon Quest slime. Luckily it was much easier than last year.
For Emmett's 3rd birthday I took him to the Denver Zoo just the 2 of us. He loved looking at the animals and being in charge of where we went and how fast we moved. At one point he just wanted to sit on a bench, so I pulled out snacks and we sat for a good while.
About halfway through our visit I was holding Emmett and fell. I tore up my hand and other areas pretty bad, but luckily Emmett only got a scratch on his back. The zoo staff did a wonderful job taking care of us and even got Emmett a birthday package. He got a free ride on the carousel, a free ice cream, and 10% off at the gift shop. It was a nice addition since those are things we wouldn't have done otherwise.
After the zoo we came home and Emmett played while I made homemade pizza for dinner. Then we video chatted with grandparents to open gifts and had cake. Even with the injury we had a lot of fun and I think Emmett enjoyed his special day.
