Lee's Golden Birthday

Lee is 26 today on the 26th! That makes it his golden birthday! I wish I could have done more to make it special, but I think he still enjoyed his day. It started with work :( then he came home for lunch and Ty was very happy to see him. After work, he opened his few presents ($25 gift card for Gamestop, a couple letters, J-Dawg sauce, and some Twix), then we went out to dinner with his parents at his favorite restaurant, Sri Thai. To our surprise, they had a live band playing that the owner was a part of. They were playing jazz, which is a favorite of Lee's, so that was nice. After that, we all went back for a delicious cake I made. The rest of the night we relaxed and played some games.

Trip to Grammy's

This last week, Ty and I went to Provo with Tiffany and her boys. It was so nice to take a vacation and see my family! I also found out that Ty gets car-sick. It's never really happened before, but the curvy roads in the mountains didn't sit well with Ty. He was very happy when we got there and he was finally able to get out and crawl around. He loved being able to have other people his size to play with. One of the first things we did was go to the mall and I got a new haircut! I'm loving it so far! I haven't cut my hair this short since before my wedding.
While we were there, we went to Seven Peaks. Ty had a blast playing in the water and loved walking around in the shallow water while holding my hand.
We went to Chuck E. Cheese on the last day to celebrate Kaylee's birthday, since Tiffany and I wouldn't be there on her actual birthday.Ty also learned how to whistle while we were visiting. Rachel has a job as a lifeguard this summer and let Ty play with her whistle and he loved it.

While on our trip Ty got a lot better at walking too. He wanted to run around with everyone else so much, that it motivated him to learn. Here's a video of him at home after the trip.

First Steps!!

Ty just took his first steps tonight!! He's been taking one tiny step just to balance himself, but tonight he took real steps. At first it was two or three, then he suddenly took six steps to reach one of the boxes in the room. I couldn't believe it! Unfortunately, I didn't grab my camera in time and he hasn't wanted to do it again. Every time I have the camera on him he only wants to take one step then sit down and crawl to where he wants to be.

I'll try again tomorrow when he's well rested. Hopefully I can catch him walking more than one or two steps.

4th of July

Our 4th was a fun, but simple day. We woke up and had a great breakfast of sausage and eggs. We were planning on toast as well, but Lee accidentally burnt the little bread we had because the toaster dials had changed during the move. After breakfast we walked to the park to see if there was anything going on. There were a lot of people there, but it was mainly to stake out their spot for fireworks that night. We took a few pictures by the lake there then headed home since it was very hot.We then went to visit Lee's parents and have some delicious shaved ice! Here in Colorado they don't allow fireworks, but that doesn't stop people from setting them off. We got to see some fun fireworks that the neighbors were setting off, but we stuck to the legal sparklers and poppers. It took Ty a few tries, but he did eventually learn how to throw the poppers, but was confused as to why we suddenly wanting him throwing stuff on the ground.

I also took a little photoshoot in the backyard. He was mostly interested in pulling out the grass.
He also really liked the sparklers and would have loved to hold one, but it's a little too dangerous for him, so Grandma got to hold him while Lee and I burned the sparklers and showed Ty.Around 9:30 we went back home since we had a good view of the city fireworks from our home, but we didn't get to see many since it was Ty's bedtime and he was cranky. I hope everyone had a fun Independence Day and I'm so happy for the freedom we can enjoy in this wonderful country!

Ty's First Pet

Ty and I went out with Grandma today to see a horse show. Unfortunately, we only got to see a few horses before it was over. Normally they go until 6, but this one ended early. So after that, we decided to go look around before going home. We stopped by a See's Candy and Ty really enjoyed that.

Then we went to get some real food at Cracker Barrel where we bought Ty his first pet!

I definitely think we'll wait on buying him a real pet. He's a little rough with this one.
